We focus in this article on journeys back from away games, using coaches organised by the Red Imps Travel Section.

The home club’s stewards/police invariably instruct coach drivers to depart promptly after the final whistle. Once the players have been applauded from the pitch, each passenger is therefore responsible for returning to the same seat in the same coach that he or she used for the outbound trip.

As the return journey commences, a prize is presented to the winner of the outward trip’s competition to predict the official attendance at the game. Everyone also casts their vote for the man-of-the-match: at the end of the season, a trophy is presented by the Travel Section to the player with the most votes.

There is a toilet on board all coaches and therefore returns are non-stop, save for some very long journeys, where a comfort break at a service station might be allowed if drivers need to be swapped.

Drop-offs can be arranged at bus stops at various points approaching Lincoln, depending on the route taken, which is normally along either Newark Road or Carholme Road.

The new security fencing installed around the LNER Stadium this season and the catering trailers kept in the Fans’ Village have necessitated some adjustments to the final drop-off point. The club has kindly altered the gate at the Sincil Bank end of the car park behind the Stacey West stand, to enable coaches to swing round through it, turn round, discharge the final passengers and make their way back to the depot. It is therefore essential that the car park should remain empty at that end: any vehicles left at the stadium by coach passengers should be parked at the Cross Street end, behind the Stacey West stand.

Whenever away match tickets are made available for sale, the club also advertises separate tickets for Travel Section coaches to and from the game. Everyone is welcome to buy them. Coach tickets can be bought, subject to availability:-
