The Red Imps Community Trust board and associated people were delighted when Imps Head Coach Michael Skubala joined them for their monthly meeting on Zoom on Monday 12th February. Michael gave an update on current injuries, and how preparations were going for the Charlton fixture the following evening. The signing of Conor McGrandles was discussed and how, after good contributions against Burton and Fleetwood, he’ll have to miss out on the fixture against his parent club.

Michael revealed what was said at half-time in the Fleetwood fixture that saw the Imps take control and come from a goal down to win, and the relief he felt at getting his first home win. Subjects like the multi-ball system, how academy players adapt to senior football, and the Lincoln City Win/Develop philosophy were all covered.  The fantastic atmosphere at home games was praised with our Head Coach having only one concern – when younger players get carried away and their enthusiasm makes them try too hard!

The Trust also entered 1980’s kids’ football magazine mode and risked embarrassing Michael Skubala with a number of quick-fire questions. He took them in his stride though and here’s the results:

Q – Favourite food?

A – Pasta

Q – Favourite drink?

A – Coffee

Q – Favourite band or singer?

A – U2

Q – Pet hate in football?

A – Bad refereeing

Q – How you relax away from football?

A – Running, at the gym, time with the family

Q – Your views on Lincoln the place?

A – It’s beautiful – the Cathedral, Steep Hill – a beautiful city

Q – Favourite ground apart from the LNER?

A – The Bernabeu

Q – Best moment with Lincoln City so far?

A – Hanging on for that 1-0 win at Burton.

Thank you Michael Skubala for meeting us as well as Luke and colleagues for helping set it up. Best of luck for the games ahead and the rest of the season.
